As I continue to recover from surgery, many of you have generously asked over the past few weeks, “Phil, is there anything we can do to help?” As one who’s learned the value of bringing others alongside you for the journey, I did my best to create some tangible ways people could do little things to make a big difference for me. And, true to form, you’ve been coming through with flying colors, signing up to bring over meals, drive me around town, and (most importantly) offering prayers for physical, mental, and practical recovery from a pretty tough year.
To that end, one of my biggest frustrations from the past year or two is that, by way of limited employment, I haven’t been able to offer much more than prayer and words to a slew of friends doing great work in various ministry fields. Great things are happening all around us through humble, energetic servants who simply answered the call placed before them, and it kinda makes me sick that most of them aren’t able to meet their financial support raising goals.
Of course, those who venture into ministry do so with a confidence that God will provide for their basic needs, a faith which often comes from years of worrying and praying, only to watch things fall into place at the last minute. When I, myself, was living on donated funds for a time, it was both one of the best experiences of my life, and one of the most trying.
“Phil, will you get to the point??”
Excellent suggestion. I’ve decided that, rather than pander for much more assistance for myself (which is always appreciated, along with the prayer requests I’ve mentioned before), I’d rather ask you to make a small donation to one of the wonderful people, programs, and causes I’m referring to here. I’ve taken the liberty of changing up my Links (bottom right of the homepage), taking out the “fun” ones, and instead putting in the websites of several friends who are “out there,” really making a difference in peoples’ lives. These are folks I know personally (with the exception of RFL), and I can assure you that these funds are not being wasted.
I strongly encourage you to at least browse their pages; maybe you won’t come at them with the same religious/ political perspectives, but I ask you to at least consider the benefits these people & programs are having on those they serve. Then, having seen that, I would ask you to at least consider making a small donation to at least one of them.
I ask this under three conditions:
a) You do it today (with donations, tomorrow never seems to happen)
b) You give what you can; if that’s $10, great. If it’s $20, even better (chances are, if you’re reading this on a computer at your home, you can spare $10 or $20 for an awesome cause)
c) You think of this as an honor and a privilege (seriously, think of all the dumb stuff we spend $10 or $20 in a week! This is for something great that changes lives…)

Thanks in advance; I have confidence that at least a few of you will feel led to step up and offer the kind of assistance I really wish I were in a place to offer right now. That’s better than any casserole you could bring me.
Please note…
- this is NOT a forum for asking me to post other charities’/organizations’ info. It’s just for those I know personally. Don’t waste your time.
- if I’ve forgotten to mention someone I know personally, my apologies (you know, brain surgery). And if I’ve listed your info, and you’d rather I didn’t, please let me know.

Tell you what: even if you’re just not inclined to give anything financially today, you can just peek at one or two pages, just to see some good stuff that’s happening out there…
