The following links will take you to gross pictures of my head, with all its new scars & dents from my latest surgery (Hey, don’t say I don’t deliver what I advertise!)
*Actually, these pics aren’t gore, just kind of unsettling. Keep in mind, about 1/4 of my skull up top was taken out. The incision is essentially the same one as they did last August when removing the tumor, with the stiches having just been pulled out a few days ago. Look if you’re curious; however, if you just don’t do well with medical stuff, no one will think less of you for moving on and reading something else…

1) . “Hey, Phil, what’re you talking about?”
2) “I don’t see any GOOD NIGHT! WHAT IS THAT THING???”
3) “Why, that’s my dent. Wanna take a closer look?”
4) “And, from the top, we can see the whole dent & scar package…”
See, not so bad, was it? (and, I just noticed that, if you look closely at pic #2, you can see my Harry Potter scar, which comes courtesy of the famous Ikea dresser I wrote about last year)

A couple of follow-up notes:
- Went back to UW this past week, for further consult + stiches removal. The docs seem pretty convinced that this infection was nothing more than a common “skin bug,” that just turned ugly when combined with chemo pills and a big unhealed crack in my skull. The new timeline is such: 6 weeks of obnoxious penicillin bag (starting from surgery date, so about 3 more weeks), followed by 4 weeks of oral antibiotics (to kill this thing good and dead before sealing me back up), followed by 4 weeks of observation (to make sure it’s good and dead), followed by metal plate insertion sometime in late July or so…
- Thanks for all the wonderful food many of you have been bringing by the place! Besides getting to enjoy your best recipes, it’s been great to get to catch up with you when you drop it off. Although I’m fine for the time being, I encourage you all to make a practice of providing this service for others when you hear of a need arising: it’s a gift they get to provide to you, by letting you serve in that way (even though they might feel guilty as heck about it).
- Got any of these things lying around your house? (not so much a surgery recovery thing here, but, hey, now that I’ve got your attention…):
- Stationary bike (looking for one with variable resistance that isn’t too loud)
- Plastic mat that you put down on carpet for using your office chair (I think that’s the official name)
- Probably something else I can’t think of now; I’ll update this post when I do…
Thanks! Hope you’re having a great week, and would love to hear what good things (or even the bad things) are happening in your life these days…
